One of Those Perfect November Days
Robbie and I launched at Gandy Beach into the kind of conditions paddlers dream about. There was no wind, Tampa Bay lay calm and flat, and the sky seemed to repeat itself in the glassy water. It was a relaxed day with no need to hurry—just two friends enjoying the bay and remembering why days like this really are the good old days.
Wildlife made the paddle even more memorable. We saw lots of manatees and dolphins throughout the day, surfacing around us as we moved quietly across the water. Buddyboy came along for the adventure, keeping watch from the kayak while Robbie explored on his paddleboard.

Flat Water and Living Reflections
With practically no breeze, reflections stayed sharp enough to make the boards, paddles and bright sky look doubled. Every quiet stroke carried us across a blue mirror.
The stillness also made it easier to notice the manatees and dolphins. Their surfacing broke the smooth water for just a moment before the bay settled flat again.

Buddyboy on Bay Watch
Buddyboy had his usual front-row seat in the kayak, surrounded by salt air, open water and wildlife smells. From there he could watch Robbie nearby and keep an eye on everything moving across the bay.
On a warm, calm November afternoon like this one, there could hardly be a better place for any of us.

The Story of the Day Continues

A Golden Finish
The calm lasted into evening as the sun dropped toward the horizon. Sailboats rested in the anchorage, cirrus clouds caught the gold light, and every paddle stroke shimmered.
It was the perfect ending to an already exceptional day with Robbie, Buddyboy, manatees and dolphins—a day worth holding onto.
